When is a hotel room the better choice?
A hotel room is the easier choice when your trip is short and you want everything taken care of.
- You are here for a week or less. You will spend your days on the water and your evenings at the restaurant, so a kitchen adds little.
- You are a couple or travelling alone. A double room is all the space two people need for a kite holiday.
- You want breakfast ready every morning. Breakfast is included and served from 7:30 to 10:00 in the beachfront restaurant, with fresh fruit, bread, cakes, juices, coffee, and eggs and tapioca made to order.
- You arrive late. Reception is open 24 hours, so a late flight into Fortaleza is no problem.
Almost every room at Windtown Beach Hotel looks out to sea. On the upper floors, the Double Deluxe Superior and Quadruple rooms have ocean views; the ground-floor Double and Twin Deluxe rooms look over the pool to the sea. Every room has air conditioning, a mini fridge, free wifi and a private bathroom.
When is an apartment the better choice?
An apartment is the better choice when you stay longer, travel with more people, or simply like to cook.
- You are staying a week or longer. After a few days, a living room and a kitchen make a real difference, especially on days without wind.
- You are a family or a group. A 2-bedroom apartment has two bathrooms and sleeps four; a 3-bedroom has two bathrooms and sleeps six. The 1-bedroom has a sofa bed for children.
- You want to save on food. Cooking breakfast and a few dinners yourself costs much less than eating out every meal.
- You work remotely. A table, a terrace and fast wifi let you work in the morning and ride when the wind builds in the afternoon. Weekly and monthly rates are available on request.
Windtown Apartments Cumbuco are in the highest building on the Cumbuco coast, with sea views from every apartment, an infinity pool and a private gym that only apartment guests use, a shared rooftop terrace and gear lockers downstairs. Apartment guests also use the hotel’s 24-hour reception, so a late arrival is no problem.
Which is cheaper?
For one or two people on a short trip, a hotel room is usually the simpler and cheaper option, because breakfast and cleaning are already included.

What about families with children?
Both work well for families; the choice depends on how much space you need.
- Hotel: children up to 3 stay free in their parents’ room, with a cot on request. Older children can have an extra mattress for a small nightly fee, and the Quadruple rooms sleep a family of four.
- Apartments: separate bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen for the children’s meals, and the 1-bedroom sofa bed for a younger child.
The restaurant has a kids menu, the sea in front of Windtown is calm and shallow at low tide, and the dunes, buggy rides and horse riding are close by.
Do apartment guests miss out on hotel services?
No. Apartment guests can book breakfast and cleaning, use the hotel pool and reception, eat at the beach restaurant and bar, book the spa, and use the same kite and wing school as hotel guests. You get the freedom of an apartment with a hotel next door when you want it.
