The short answer: Cumbuco works well for a month-long kite stay or a remote-work trip. The wind usually picks up late in the morning, so you can work until lunchtime and ride in the afternoon. Go between August and December for the most reliable wind, and stay in an apartment with a kitchen, a living room and fast wifi rather than a hotel room.

Why stay a month in Cumbuco?
A long stay changes your trip. You stop chasing every session and start progressing.
- More riding days: in the August to December season the trade wind blows on more than 90% of days, so a month gives you plenty of time on the water.
- Real progress: with time on your side, you can take a course, then practise with supervision until a new skill is solid.
- A simple daily rhythm: work in the morning, ride in the afternoon, sunset on the beach.
- Easy logistics: Cumbuco is only about 30 km from Fortaleza airport, with restaurants and shops in walking distance.
When is the best month for a long stay?
For kitesurfing, August to December is the safest choice, with the strongest and most reliable wind. July and January are also in season but busier with Brazilian holidays.
February to June is the lighter, quieter season. It suits wingfoilers, riders with a bigger kite, and remote workers who want a calm village and the most choice of accommodation. Read more in the best time to kitesurf in Cumbuco.
Where should you stay for a month?
For a stay of several weeks, an apartment is usually the better choice than a hotel room:
- A full kitchen, so you can cook most of your meals instead of eating out every day
- A living room and a terrace to relax in, away from your bed
- Space for gear and visitors, with room for a friend or partner who joins for part of the stay

Windtown Apartments Cumbuco are made for this kind of stay. Every apartment faces the ocean and has a full kitchen, a living area and a terrace. Apartment guests also get an infinity pool and a private gym, gear lockers downstairs and the hotel’s 24-hour reception. Breakfast and cleaning can be added. The minimum stay is 3 nights, and weekly and monthly rates are available on request.

Can you work remotely from Cumbuco?
Yes. Windtown has free high-speed wifi that is fast enough for remote work and video calls, both in the hotel and in the apartments.
A few tips from guests who work while they are here:
- Plan calls for the morning. The wind usually builds from late morning, so mornings are your quiet work time.
- Set up at the living room table, with the air conditioning on. Outside spaces get too hot to work comfortably in the middle of the day.
- Bring a backup. A local SIM card with data is cheap insurance for an important call.
- Mind the time difference. Cumbuco is on Brazil time (UTC-3), which is 4 to 5 hours behind the Netherlands and Germany, depending on the season.
What does a typical week look like?
| Time | Weekdays | Weekends |
|---|---|---|
| Morning | Work, coffee on the terrace, a gym session | Downwinder or a trip to Cauípe lagoon |
| Midday | Lunch, then check the wind | Lunch at a beach restaurant |
| Afternoon | Kite or wingfoil session in front of the door | Rest day, spa or buggy tour in the dunes |
| Evening | Sunset, cook at home or eat in the village | Sushi Night, Fish BBQ or Pizza Night at the hotel |
How do you keep progressing over a month?
A month is long enough to make real progress, if you plan it.
- Week 1: settle in, ride with supervision or take a refresher, and get used to the wind.
- Week 2: pick one goal, such as riding upwind, your first jump or your first foil flight, and take lessons for it.
- Week 3: practise on your own, with the school watching from the beach.
- Week 4: try something new, like a downwinder to Cauípe or a wingfoil taster.

The Windtown Kite & Wingfoil school teaches in Portuguese, English, Spanish and Dutch, and offers lessons, supervision with your own gear, and start and landing help.
What should you know before a long stay?
- Check visa rules for your nationality well before you travel, and how long you can stay as a tourist.
- Bring your own harness and favourite board, and rent extra kites when the wind changes.
- Take travel and health insurance that covers kitesurfing.
- Shop locally: the village has a regular supermarket, a fish market and plenty of shops and restaurants.
- Give your body rest days. Riding every day for four weeks is hard on the knees and back; the gym, spa and dunes are good alternatives.
