The short answer: Cumbuco is about 30 km from Fortaleza’s Pinto Martins International Airport (FOR), a 45 to 60 minute drive. With kite or board bags, the easiest way is a private transfer booked in advance, in a car with room for your gear. A taxi from the rank outside arrivals also works. The public bus is cheap but slow, and there is no direct line from the airport.

What are your options?
| Option | Time | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private transfer, booked ahead | 45 to 60 min | Kite and board bags, late arrivals, families | Book a few days before you fly and send your flight details |
| Airport taxi | 45 to 60 min | Arriving without a booking | Check the boot fits your bags before you set off |

Private transfer: the easiest choice with kite gear
A private transfer is the simplest way to arrive with kites, boards and a wing. The driver waits at arrivals, the car is chosen for your luggage, and you go straight to your door.
Windtown arranges private transfers on request for both hotel and apartment guests, in a car that takes kite and board bags. The transfer is not included in your booking, so ask for it separately. Send your flight number and arrival time when you book, and the driver tracks delays. You can book it by WhatsApp on +55 85 98596 8874.
Taxi or ride apps
Taxi ranks are right outside the arrivals area and work around the clock. They are a good backup if your flight is badly delayed or you did not book anything.
Uber and 99 also operate at Fortaleza airport, but many of their cars are small. A long board bag often will not fit, and waits can be long at night. They work better for the trip back to the airport when you have less gear, or when you travel light.
Can you take the bus?
Yes, but not straight from the airport, and not easily with a kite bag. There is no direct bus from the airport to Cumbuco. You first take a city bus into Fortaleza or towards Caucaia, then a regular bus or local van on to Cumbuco. Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours or more, and do not count on buses late at night.
Driving yourself
A rental car makes sense if you want to explore other kite spots along the coast, such as Taiba and Paracuru. Rental desks are at the airport.
Windtown has free private parking for guests at Rua dos Jangadeiros 51, Cumbuco, Caucaia.
Arriving late at night

Many flights from Europe land in Fortaleza in the evening or at night. Book a private transfer in advance, so a driver is waiting whatever time you land.
At Windtown, reception is open 24 hours for both hotel and apartment guests, so a late check-in is no problem. Just tell us your arrival time in advance.
Flying with kite gear: quick tips
- Check your airline’s sports equipment rules before you book, because fees and size limits vary a lot between airlines.
- Pack light and rent the rest. You can rent kites, boards and harnesses at Windtown, by the hour or by the day.
- Label your board bag with your name, phone number and your Cumbuco address.
- Keep the essentials in your hand luggage: a harness, a lycra and sunscreen, so a delayed bag does not cost you a session.
